I'm gonna be completely honest here. I don't like Brett Favre, and I could not care any less if he does or doesn't come back. However, I think what he's doing to the Packers organization is beyond ridiculous. He waits months to let them know whether he is or isn't coming back almost every year, and now, when he somewhat officially bows out and the organization moves on, he pulls the "I still got the itch" card. That's bull. Especially since he's trying to say the organization wronged him, by not being completely open to the idea of a comeback. Hell, he's basically saying the Packers shouldn't trust him.
First off. If I'm the Packers, I'd try to shop him for a draft pick or something. Unconditional release? That's terrible management. Letting go of a valuable asset for free doesn't make sense. I wouldn't want him on the team though. The Packers are very young, and carry a decent amount of talent, certainly enough to compete in the NFC. Favre ain't gonna be around much longer, may as well develop Rodgers or Brohm, and really set the team up for a long run with a young core. Keeping Favre around could set that development off a year, or two, or three. Then, before you know it, you got all these players in their prime, and a first-time starter...
Now my question comes back to Favre. Was this the plan from the start. I mean, commentators (who are usually pretty useless) have been saying for years they could see Favre leaving and joining a different team, and now it really seems almost probable. Either way, I don't really care to hear about this story 24/7 so he just needs to make a decision and get it over with.
