This is a woman who has never really gotten the push that she deserves as an artist. She's a very talented singers, and as you can tell from the video, very soulful. She opens up with a two minute or so intro, and then follows up with a pretty nice jam.

Better Than The Best - Murs
I guess this is as good a time as any to post this video. This is the first single for the new album by Murs, Murs For President. The video is awesome, but Chamillionaire kind of went with the same idea for his first singles off that god-awful Ultimate Victory LP. Anyway, it was fitting to choose this for a couple reasons: the news this week has completely revolved around Barack Obama. Two, Murs and North Carolina-based producer (and college professor) 9th Wonder dropped their third album this week. You can get it, titled Sweet Lord, for free!

So Far, So Good / Sick - Skillz & Talib Kweli
Skillz is one of the enigmas of hip-hop. Almost everybody has heard a song by him or written by him, but his solo career has never really taken off. He's done the year end "Rap Ups" for six or seven years now, and he's famos for ghostwriting hits by Jermaine Dupri, Foxy Brown, Will Smith, and Diddy (among others). This is one of the videos for his current album, Million Dollar Backpack.

I Got Cha Opin - Black Moon
Black Moon jump-started the career of a dude known by the name of Buckshot. This guy has been criminally underrated for years, and I never really understood it considering that not just anyone can carry a co-sign from none other than Tupac Shakur. Anyway, this is the third single from his former groups debut album Enta Da Stage. In recent years, Buckshot has teamed up with uber-producer 9th Wonder, most recently with the release of The Formula.

Water - The Roots
This is probably one of the better songs about drug addiction made by a hip hop artist. The Roots used to consist of two emcees, Black Thought is still the lead emcee, but Malik B. left the group some time ago due to the inability to overcome his addiction. This song appeared on 2002's Phrenology album. In 2005, Malik began appearing on tracks with the Roots again. He's also featured on their release this year.
I think the song ends pretty powerful with the end of verse three:
"Hey yo, you better be a true friend to him
Before the itch put an end to him
Or give a pen to him
Or lock him up in the studio with a mic
'Cause on the real, it might save his life"
This is the Roots live on the Craig Kilborn Show.

Ain't Nothing Wrong With That - Robert Randolph & The Family Band
I had to get a late pass on this guy. I "acquired" the 2006 release, Colorblind off the strength of the performance in Eric Clapton's Crossroads concert DVD. Pretty badass album, and I guess this song is the most known. Its been in a handful of movies, and now is a featured song on a Discovery Channel commercial.
