One of my favorite events every year is the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival in my hometown of Evansville. I haven't been in a couple years ago, but I'm really looking forward to heading down there this weekend. This isn't just some lame small festival that a lot of towns are used to, it's a HUGE event in southern Indiana. Hundreds of thousands of people attend the week-long celebration on Evansville's west side.
The main attraction, outside of serving as a high school reunion for everyone in Evansville, is the food. There are always over a hundred different food booths, most offering food slightly different than your usual festival selection. One of the big new items this year is the Kangaroo Burrito, which is exactly what you think it is. There are some classic fare like brain sandwiches, fried oreos (twinkies, snickers bars, turtle, anything fried really), and of course, the chocolate-covered grasshoppers.
There are some rides and carnival games obviously. I'm personally looking forward to blowing at least ten dollars trying to win some prize I don't even want. The rides are usually pretty cool, but I think I'm getting a little to old for them. I hope the Gravitron is there though.
Either way, I'm looking forward to getting down there for the first time in a while. I've had the weekend circled ever since I found out my schedule worked out for it...
